Earlier today saw the winners of the monthly Japanese boxing awards being named.
The winner of the MVP award was Hiroki Okada, pictured, who impressively defended his Japanese Light Welterweight title with a 3rd round TKO over Hayato Hokazono. The win for Okada was his second defense of the title and was arguably his best performance to date as he looked razor sharp from the start and although he was cut before the finish he really did look very impressive.
The fighting Spirit award was won by Keita Nakano who defeated Kenta Toi on March 26th in a bout between two Japanese ranked fighters. The win for Nakano almost certainly pushed him towards a title fight, though he may need another good result to get his hands on the winner of the upcoming Japanese Bantamweight title fight between Kentaro Masuda and Shohei Omori.
The state of the art award was won by Takumi Takahashi for his March 7th win over Yukinori Hisanaga. This was a great bounce back win for Takahashi who had been stopped in a round just 5 months earlier by Yoshihiro Utsumi.
