Earlier this month we reported that Argentinian sources were informing us that Kazuto Ioka (17-1, 10) had had his next two bouts set. Today it appears that the WBA have confirmed those reports.
Today the WBA reported that Ioka was being given permission to defend his WBA Flyweight crown against Roberto Domingo Sosa (26-2-1, 14) in September. The winner of that will go into a bout with former champion Juan Carlos Reveco (35-2, 19), no later than December 31st.
The bout with Sosa is rumoured to have been penciled in for a September 20th date with an announcement due very shortly, likely over this coming weekend, whilst the Reveco bout has been ear marked for New Years Eve, a date that Ioka has made his own in recent years with the help of Japanese TV giant TBS.
The bout with Sosa has been made following an agreement between Ioka, who is expected to over-come Sosa, and Reveco with Reveco likely offered a much larger purse for a December 31st date than he would have been given for a September fight.
Of course very little "new" information has been released from the WBA though it's clear that what they have done is essentially confirm the details that we already had.
