On May 21st we'll see WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (12-0, 10) [井上 尚弥] defending his title in Tokyo against Ricardo Rodriguez (16-3, 5).
Yesterday, ahead of that bout, Inoue began sparring with some notable Filipino foes, as he begins to put in serious preparation for his upcoming defense.
Yesterday saw reports from Japan about Inoue sparring with experienced Filipino Marco Demecillo (22-7-1, 17) and the unbeaten Jade Bornea (7-0, 4). The session aparently saw Inoue put Demecillo on the back foot, despite the fact the Filipino was the much bigger man.
The two Filipino's are expected to stay in camp until next week, when two more Filipino's will be brought over for Inoue who looked incredibly sharp at the spar. It's clear there is still work to do, but the youngster really did look incredble once again, and has seemingly been working on his defense, as well as his always impressive offense.
