Earlier today we were informed that unbeaten Korean fighter Hyun Mi Choi (12-0-1, 4) [최현미] would be back in the ring in May to defend her WBA female Super Featherweight title, for the 4th time.
The news we received was that the Korean “Defector Girl Boxer”, who fights under the KBA banner, would be back in the ring on May 21st to face South African challenger Unathi Myekeni (10-2-1, 4) at the Pearl Gymnasium in Jinju.
For Choi the bout will be her 13th world title bout, following a title win on her debut, and see her look to continue her reign at 130lbs. It will also be her second bout this year following a wide win over Diana Ayala, in March.
As for Myekeni the bout sees her climbing from Super Bantamweight to Super Featherweight. Last time out “Showtime” lost a very narrow decision to Gabisile Tshabalala in a bout for the WBF Super Bantamweight crown. Notably this will be her first bout outside of South Africa and her first at 130lbs.
At the moment details on the over-all card are limited but we're expecting details in the near future, as well as the show's poster
