Earlier today we were informed that Japanese icon Hozumi Hasegawa (35-5, 15) [長谷川 穂積] would be returning to the ring later this year as he attempts to become a 3-weight world champion. Our sources in Mexico and Italy informed us that the talented Japanese veteran would be facing WBC Super Bantamweight Hugo Ruiz (36-3, 32) in either September or August, with the bout to take place in Japan.
Although their is no date set for the bout the contest will be taking place in Japan, with Osaka and Tokyo in the running for the bout. Notably the show will be promoted by Teiken suggesting that the card will be a double header with a possibility that Shinsuke Yamanaka (25-0-2, 17) [山中慎介] will also be in action on the show.
At the moment details of the contest are scarce but it has been confirmed by Ruiz's management team who stated that the bout merely needs a specific date.
