Earlier today we reported that Hidenori Otake (28-2-3, 12) [大竹 秀典] would be defending the OPBF Super Bantamweight title on July 19th against fellow veteran Kinshiro Usui (27-5, 11) [臼井 欽士郎].
Prior to that article being published we had already been informed that the winner would be returning in October, with the plan being to fight on October 13th at the Korakuen Hall against super-prospect Hinata Maruta (5-0, 4) [丸田 陽七太], who will be looking to add the Oriental title to his WBC youth belt. With Maruta himself breaking the news through his personal blog.
Whilst the October date is a while away the plan is for Maruta to travel to the US at the end of June to take part in a length US training camp, as he has done at various times through his career. The training camp in America is expected to last 2 weeks and will see Maruta work on technical aspects of his boxing, before facing either Otake or Usui.
Interestingly the bout in October will not only be a huge step back up in class for Maruta but will also be his first bout in the Japanese capital, having fought all 5 of his previous bouts in Osaka. For some fight fans it will be their first chance to see the incredible 20 year old.
