Over the last year or so we've seen Japanese teenager Hinata Maruta (0-0) share the ring with various high quality sparring partners, including world ranked fighters like Shun Kubo and Felix Diaz.
Earlier today Maruta was in with another notable name, Japanese based Filipino Mark John Yap (22-12, 10).
Yap might not be world class but he's a tough, strong, heavy handed and criminally under-rated fighter who is certainly a lot better than his record indicates, as shown by wins against the likes of Tatsuya Ikemizu, Pramuansak Posuwan and Ryotaro Kawabata.
The sparring seemed to show how good Maruta is, however comments form the youngster seemed to suggest that he was quite happy over how quick he was, stating that he was hoping to fine tune his speed in the future. It's of course great that the youngster himself can spot issues with his sessions and if he knows what he needs to work on then it's yet another impressive trait for the youngster who has shown genuine maturity along with his in ring ability.
At the moment we're still awaiting the announcement regarding who Maruta will be debuting against in November, though we do know that his debut will be taking place on November 22nd at the Sumiyoshi Center in Osaka. Hopefully the announcement in regards to an opponent will be made shortly, though it is known that the youngster has been wanting to fight a world ranked fighter.
