Earlier today we were informed that former world title challenger Hidenori Otake (25-2, 12) [大竹 秀典] would be back in the ring on June 24th to face his first Latin American opponent .
The teak tough fighter, best known for coming up short against Scott Quigg in 2014, has seen his opponent being named as Panamanian fighter Hernan Cortez (9-8-3-1, 2).
Cortez, who is ranked as a contender on the Panamanian domestic scene, is a former WBC FECARBOX Super Flyweight champion and will be fighting outside of Panama for the first time. Sadly however he has had "sketchy" recent form, going 2-3-0-1 in his last 6 bouts, with two losses coming to Jorge Sanchez.
The bout, which will take place at the Korakuen Hall, will be Otake's fourth bout since Otake lost to Quigg, and will see him seeking a 4th straight stoppage. Sadly however his last 3 wins have been against very poor opposition and this is a marked step up from those 3 bouts.
