Later tonight in the US fight fans will get the chance to see Middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (34-0, 31) defending his WBA “super”, IBF, and WBC “interim” titles against unbeaten IBF mandatory challenger Dominic Wade (18-0, 12). On paper it's a bout between two unbeaten fighters and should be good, in reality however it's an elite fighter taking on a man who is incredibly unproven at this level.
The bookies have certainly agreed with those viewing the contest as a mismatch with Golovkin priced at 1/100 to win. Those odds essentially make Golovkin unbackable. Wade on the other hand is 28/1, a huge price for a huge under-dog in a 2-horse race. As for the draw that's been priced at 33/1.
For people looking for a better opportunity to make money on this bout the "Method of Victory" market may be more appealing, However Golovkin has been priced at 1/14 to win via a stoppage, the likely outcome. Golovkin by decision is priced as high as 9/1, showing the bookies don't even believe that Wade will see out the 12 rounds. Wade by stoppage is strangely 28/1, the same price as him just to win, whilst Wade by stoppage can be found at 33/1.
Sadly with the bout being such a mismatch the best option could be just picking a round for the anticipated Golovkin KO win, though even that could be a shot in the dark considering how untested and unknown Wade is.
