Yesterday Filipino fighter Jheritz Chavez (5-1-2, 3) suffered his first defeat, and lost the WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council Lightweight title due to a 10 round decision against Armenian-Russian hopeful Vage Sarukhanyan (13-1-1, 2).
Sadly footage of the bout is scarce though Russia Today have released some footage from small news report, which shows a talented looking Vage, with "Vahe" on his shorts, seemingly out boxing a wild, and somewhat desperate, Chavez. It's clear in the footage that Chavez felt he needed a KO to win and he seemed to show no real anger at the decision.
The bout was Chavez's first outside of his homeland and although he lost it appears he gave a good account of himself and could end up with more fights on the road. Incidentally this was a second successive win over a Filipino for Sarukhanyan, who had won the interim title with a 12 round decision over Rey Laspinas in December.
