Earlier this week super-manager Egis Klimas released a picture of himself along with 2016 Olympic gold medal winning Light Welterweight Fazliddin Gaibnazarov of Uzbekistan, on Instagram with the suggestive caption being that Gaibnazarov was set to turn professional!
Although the picture didn't officially announce Gaibnazarov as a professional the suggestion is a clear one, the Uzbek sensation is on the verge of becoming a professional boxer and turning his attention on world titles. Something that he could likely do at an alarming pace given his exceptional amateur pedigree which includes not only an Olympic gold medal but Silver medals at both the 2015 World Amateur Championships and the 2015 Asian championships.
The 25 year old is in his physical prime and has competed at a high level through out the last few years of his amateur career. Whilst he may not have been the amateur mega star that some of Klimas's other fighters have been, such as Vasyl Lomachneko and Oleksandr Usyk, the Uzbek certainly could be moved and matched like those two and pushed quickly towards a world title.
At the moment it seems like a case of us all needing to wait for the official announcement, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see that being made relatively soon.
