Tonight boxing fans get the chance to watch 4 world title bouts all on the same show from Las Vegas. The most interesting of those bouts, in many ways, is the WBO Super Bantamweight title fight between reigning champion Nonito Donaire (37-3, 24) and unbeaten challenger Jessie Magdaleno (23-0, 17). On paper it looks brilliantly intriguing and even the bookies had the two fighters close in regards to the odds.
At the weigh in last night both fighters made weight for the contest with Donaire weighing in at 121¾lbs whilst Magdaleno was 121¼lbs.
For Donaire the weight the weight was the same as he was last time out, when he beat Zsolt Bedak, and lighter than he was last year when he struggled with Cesar Juarez. As for Magdaleno the weight is more than 5lbs lighter than he was earlier this year, when he beat Rey Perez, and more than 6lbs lighter than he was last October, when he beat Vergel Nebran in 142 seconds. In fact the weight is his second lighest career weight, only marginally above his weight back in November 2011 when he beat Gil Garcia, in 160 seconds.
The bout is an interesting one and both guys have worked themselves into great shape, suggesting they know how serious this bout is, and how good their opponent is.
