Dangan to stream events!
Earlier today Dangan Ltd, who run the DANGAN events, made one of the most significant announcements this year in regards to Japanese boxing and boxing fans.
The company revealed that they are to begin streaming their events through the http://boxingraise.com/ website starting on July 10th, with the plan being not only to live stream events but also to include old shows that the company have filmed.
The service will cost ¥980 yen a month (at current exchange rates that's $9.62 or £7.35) and will allow a person to watch some of the Dangan back catalogue, from 2015, as well a number of live shows and get special offers on other Dangan merchandise, including tickets.
From what we understand the only live shows not included in concept will be those that will be aired on Free TV in Japan, so those set to be screen on Fuiji TV for example.
At the moment it's unclear whether the service will be a Japanese only service but we will continue to follow the news as it could potentially become one of the key ways to follow Japanese fighters as they come through the ranks and watch some of the interesting bouts that have been arranged for later this year.
The first show to be featured on Boxing Raise will be on July 15th when Takuya Kogawa (26-4, 13) [粉川 拓也] defends the Japanese Flyweight title against Masafumi Otake (15-14-3, 7) [大嶽 正史], so hopefully things, including international distribution, will be made clear by the time of that fight.
