We are just over a week away from seeing Daigo Higa (12-0, 12) [比嘉 大吾] take on WBC Flyweight champion Juan Hernandez Navarrete (34-2, 25), in what looks set to be a truly brilliant bout between a fighter pressure fighter and a sensational boxer-puncher.
Today, ahead of that bout, Higa took part in a public work out and a press conference.
The event saw Higa and his team talk, in depth, about their preparation for the bout, and made it clear that they have spent a lot of time working on improving Higa's abilities against southpaws. He has sparred hard in preparation, doing 125 rounds of sparring to prepare for the bout, and has been working on using his foot work, and jab more.
Although not a former amateur stand out Higa has been a revelation in the professional ranks and is looking to win a world title in just his 13th bout, and at the age of 21.
As for the training it was a prolonged session including mitt work, a spar, working the speed bag and more as Higa seemed to clearly be saying that his stamina is up to take for a world title fight, even if he is yet to go 12 rounds as a professional.
