In Mid September Honda Fitness put on their latest show, a card at the Foodpal Kumamoto. That show has now been added to the on demand service of Boxingraise.com, the subscription based Japanese boxing website.
The show wasn't the best or the deepest, in fact it only had 4 bouts on it in total, but it did include the notable Japanese Minimumweight title fight between Tatsuya Fukuhara (17-4-6, 6) [福原 辰弥] and Shin Ono (19-7-4, 3) [小野 心].
Although the main event ended in a technical draw, and the card was certainly thin on the ground, the inclusion of the show on the service shows that Dangan is continuing to work with various promoters, and Honda Fitness have followed the likes of Kadoebi Houseki, Morioka and Mutoh and it seems obvious that the service really is out there to try and increase the visibility of fights and fighters.
Notable this show was never clearly advertised on the website before it was put up, and had no connection to Dangan, but it becomes the 20th show to be included on the site, not including the 3 Father Fight cards, and given the service has only been active for about 3 months that's an impressive amount of content that is on demand.
Whilst the shows have been adding up on the demand service their is still question marks about the live content and we've only been getting about one live show a month so far. Whilst they have, on the whole, been really good shows, it does seem clear that that has to be changed going forward and has to be increased if the service is going to grow. Ideally it would be good to see the service go to 2 lives shows a month in the coming months and then possibly even increasing that to a weekly thing in 2017.
All of that said the service has been a good starting point and will hopefully continue to build on it's success in the coming months.
