Over the last couple of days BoxingM (KBM) have announced that they have set aside June 27th for the first round of the Battle Royal tournament. Though they have admitted they are having some issues on sorting out the venue and full bout line up for the event, with those details expected to be ironed out and announced next week.
The statement announcing the date of the show has come with the KBM stating that they have struggled to secure public venues and school gymnasiums for the show, and that local governments have objected to the use of an outdoor ring. As a result it appears the show will take place at a general gym.
The show will be the round of 16 part of the tournament, with the next round expected to take place in August.
At the time of writing it appears that the event will not have fans in attendance, wherever the event ends up being held, due to the current on going situation.
For those unaware the Battle Royal tournament is the KBM's answer to the Japanese Rookie of the Year, and pits novices against each other in a knockout tournament. The tournament is one of the best things about Korean boxing in recent years and is seen as a launchpad for future Korean stars.
