Tomorrow Japanese fans at the Korakuen Hall will see the long awaited debut of former Japanese female amateur star Ayako Minowa (0-0) [箕輪 綾子], and today she not only took part in her official weigh in for tomorrows bout but also announced a new ring name.
Gone is "Ayako" and instead she will be fighting as Chaoz Minowa [チャオズ箕輪], an interesting change for the fighter who came in at 112lbs for tomorrow's bout.
Viewed as a potential golden girl of Japanese female boxing Minowa has a strong track record from her days in the amateur ranks and will be looking to make an impact on debut. Sadly for her Thai foe, Petchpaya Mor Krungthepthonburi (0-2), that could mean a lot of pain.
The Thai, who's only bouts have come against Kumiko Seeser Ikehara and Kayoko Ebata, came in at 110¾lbs and although she has proven her toughness in previous bouts no one is giving her a chance here. In fact a fan poll on boxmob have Minowa to win by stoppage at 89% of their vote, a huge majority of the vote here.
For fans interested in seeing this one, it will be aired on boxingraise on Thursday.
