Last week we reported that Ryota Murata's (9-0, 6) [村田 諒太] next bout would take place in Hong Kong on May 14th, against once beaten Brazilian puncher Felipe Santos Pedroso (13-1, 11). Today that bout was officially announced by Teiken, more than a week after it was revealed by the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
It seems that there was a reason for Teiken to delay their announcement in regards to Murata's next bout and that was that they were working towards securing his 11th bout, as well as the Hong Kong bout.
As well as the announcement of Murata Vs Pedroso, Teiken confirmed that Murata would be back in action on July 23rd in the the US in what is expected to be a warm up bout before a potential world title contest either at the end of the year, or in 2017.
At the moment there is no opponent pinned down for the July bout, but it seems like it will come on a Top Rank card in either Los Angeles or Las Vegas. That bout is likely to see Murata take on a world ranked opponent in the hope of helping him to prepare him for a world class opponent, like Billy Joe Saunders, Saul Alvarez or Gennady Golovkin.
