Next weekend fight fans, worldwide, will get the chance to see WBO Light Flyweight world champion Kosei Tanaka (8-0, 5) [田中恒成] defending his title against mandatory challenger Angel Acosta (16-0, 16), in a really mouth watering match up.
Today, a week out from that fight, Acosta touched down in Japan, and although he looked a bit tired, following a very draining journey from Puerto Rico, he was full of self belief and confidence.
The challenger stated that he had no issues with his physical conditioning and had travelled to Japan with the belief that he was going to win the bout and become a world champion, essentially ending the current dry run of Puerto Rican fighters.
Acosta had gone face-to-face with Tanaka back in February, when the champion attended Acosta's world title eliminator, and since then he has scouted the champion, and is aware that Tanaka is a talented and speedy fighter, and has clearly been working on a game plan to neutralise the speed of Tanaka, who is one of the quickest fighters on the planet right now.
