Tomorrow fight fans at the Korakuen Hall will see former world title challenger Hisashi Amagasa (30-6-2, 20) [天笠 尚] take on Carlo Demecillo (6-2, 1), in what will be Amagasa's first bout since his loss in England to Josh Warrington earlier this year. Today the two fighters took part in their weigh in with both coming in under the contracted limit.
On the scales Amagasa, the "Slimming Assassin", was 125¾lbs, his lightest since his 2014 world title bout with Guillermo Rigondeaux . Although coming in well under the division limit it seems Amagasa is strong and looked good at the weigh in, whilst almost hinting that he would return to 122lbs if an opportunity came his way. Incidentally Super Bantamweight is one of Japan's most interesting divisions right now with Hozumi Hasegawa, Ryosuke Iwasa, Yukinori Oguni, Shingo Wake, Shun Kubo and Yasutaka Ishimoto all in or around the world title mix.
Demecillo came in well under the weight, weighing just over 124lbs for the bout and was dwarfed by the much taller Amagasa. Although coming in lighter than his foe the weight was a career highest, by some margin. Despite coming up in weight the Filipino visitor looked in good shape, and certainly didn't pile on the pounds and get fat over-night.
For fight fans interested in watching this bout it will be aired as part the TBS "Guts Fighting" series on October 24th.
