Earlier today IBF Light Flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi (24-5, 12) [八重樫 東] took part in a public work out, ahead of his December 30th bout face former world title challenger Samartlek Kokietgym (33-5, 11)* [สามารถเล็ก ปูนอินทรียิม].
The exciting champion confirmed that he was fully healed from a bad injury that he suffered last time out, against Martin Tecuapetla, and he looked in great form as he sparred with stablemate Ryuji Hara (20-2, 11) [原隆二]. The two men traded blows in a really exciting spar that had the press impressed, and it seems clear that Yaegashi is ready for a war with Samartlek.
Whilst Yaegashi looked great there will some niggles with some perhaps questioning just how long he can continue at the top level. He has had a very long, and very hard, career and whilst he will be favoured over the Thai he may take yet more punishment that could effect him in follow up bouts, including a potential mandatory title defense against Milan Melindo.
