On December 30th we'll see the wonderfully exciting Akira Yaegashi (24-5, 12) [八重樫 東] defending his IBF Light Flyweight title against Thai visitor Samartlek Kokietgym (33-5, 11)* [สามารถเล็ก ปูนอินทรียิม]. Today, ahead of their bout, the two men under-went their physical examinations.
At the physical both men had their measurements taken and the tale of the tape is that Yaegashi is the naturally bigger man, in fact the measurements suggest he is a genuine Light Flyweight whilst Samartlek is much more of a Minimumweight moving up in weight.
Not only is Yaegashi the bigger man but he is also the man with the more quality experience, with this being his 12th world title bout. Strangely though Samartlek is the more experienced of the two fighters with 18 rounds more than the champion, it should be noted though that that experience is at a very low level, with only a handful of bouts against notable names.
