November 3rd 2006- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Suguru Muranaka (7-1, 2) Vs Tomoya Kaneshiro (8-1-1, 2) One of the great things about the Japanese boxing scene is the sheer number of competitive bouts at the lower levels. One such bout saw Suguru Muranaka test his abilities against Tomoya Kaneshiro in a brilliantly matched 6 round for the East Japan Rookie of the year. On paper the bout was brilliant with both men facing a very credible test. In the ring it wasn't non stop fire works but was a competitive contest between two young men looking to prove themselves and take a big step forward with their career. Interestingly Kaneshiro would go on to fight for the interim Japanese Flyweight title less than 2 years after this bout whilst Muranaka won the Japanese title in late 2013, proving how much potential these youngster had way back in 2006.
