October 11th 2010-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Yuzo Kiyota (19-2-1, 17) Vs Jameson Bostic (22-4, 12) In 2010 Japanese fighter Yuzo Kiyota [清田 祐三] moved up from Super Middleweight to Light Heavyweight to challenge OPBF champion Jameson Bostic. October 13th 2008-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Yuzo Kiyota (15-2-1, 13) Vs Wayne Parker Jr (7-1, 2) Japanese Super Middleweight Yuzo Kiyota [清田 祐三] has been one of the few Japanese fighters to make any sort of a mark at 168lbs. In one of his more notable bouts he took on Wayne Parker Jr in an OPBF title bout. April 13th 2009-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Yuzo Kiyota (16-2-1, 14) Vs Jae Myung Lee (9-0, 7) Historically Japanese fighters haven't made much noise above the "lighter" weights however it's fair to say that Yuzo Kiyota [清田 祐三] has changed that slightly. The same cannot be said of Korean's who had two of the more notable fighters in the early days of the Super Middleweight division. In 2009 Kiyota faced the then unbeaten Korean Jae Myung Lee. October 12th 2009-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Yuzo Kiyota (17-2-1, 15) Vs Yanto Simamora (0-1-1)* In Japan the biggest fighters are typically Middleweights however in recent Yuzo Kiyota [清田 祐三] has managed to make a name for himself at 168lbs, where he has ruled as an OPBF champion on and off for the better part of a decade. One of his many OPBF title defenses saw him face Indonesian visitor Yanto Simamora. *Record believed to bve very incomplete "Bigger" fighters in Asia are rare and as a result we sometimes see some of them struggling for opponents especially in terms of regional foes. This seems to have become an issue for the heavy handed Yuzo Kiyota in recent years with the OPBF Super Middleweight champion having fought back-to-back non-title fights since reclaiming the title late last year. The first of those non-title bouts saw Kiyota battling against Mexican Victor Palacios in what always supposed to be a stay busy fight for the interesting and heavy handed Kiyota. We won't pretend this bout was anything more than it was. It was, for all intents, an easy win for the Japanese fighter but for those who haven't seen him before this is worth a watch given that we suspect he could be in some exciting bouts if he can find an opponent willing to fight him at a similar level, something Palacios really wasn't capable of. |
