November 12th 1995-Ratchaburi, Thailand Saman Sorjaturong (27-2-1, 22) vs Yuichi Hosono (22-3-1, 12) In recent years we've seen the JBC start to recognise the IBF, in the 1990's however that didn't really happen and as a result Yuichi Hosono [細野雄一] holds quite a unique position as the first JBC licensed fighter to fight for and IBF title, when he challenged the then WBC/IBF champion Light Flyweight champion Saman Sorjaturong [สมาน ส.จาตุรงค์]. Note-Japanese sources, including his promoter, report that this was Hosono's final bout however boxrec.com have an additional bout listed. |
