This past Monday Kim took on Japan's Yoshihiro Utsumi in an IBF Asia Super Bantamweight title fight *Note-Boxrec.com are missing one of Kim's bouts **Note 2-We were unfortunately not the ones capping the fight so the volume issue was out of our hands At the moment South Korea is without a genuine boxing star. The countries lack of big name fighters is an issue for every boxing fan in the country and is one that isn't likely to change any time soon given the fact both Min Wook Kim and Ja Ik Goo, two amazingly fun to watch and exciting fighters, appear to walked away from the sport. That has effectively left Korea with just a handful of names with any sort of promise, the most notable of which is the charismatic and genuinely exciting Ye-Joon Kim. Kim was recently seen in action as he took on Japanese fighter Yoshiyuki Takabayashi and recorded his 6th successive win, one of which is not currently listed on boxrec. We won't pretend that Kim is the answer to Korean boxing problems but he is certainly an entertaining character, an exciting fighter and the best thing in Korean boxing right now. It's little wonder that he is the man who is getting attention by those in the Korean boxing press and we hope you enjoy watching him as much as we do. (Video courtesy of k-boxing) |
