November 4th 2005-Si Prachan, Thailand Veeraphol Sahaprom (48-2-2, 32) vs Roger Galicia (23-6-3, 7) After losing the WBC Bantamweight title to Hozumi Hasegawa we saw Thailand's Veeraphol Sahaprom [ธีระพล สำราญกลาง] stay very busy, fighting 5 times in a little over 10 months. One of those fights saw Sahaprom battle against Filipino Roger Galicia.

August 24th 2002-Channel 7 Studios, Bangkok, Thailand Veeraphol Sahaprom (37-1-1, 26) vs Dean Bermudez (5-5-2, 3) II In 2002 Thai great Veeraphol Sahaprom [ธีระพล สำราญกลาง], the then WBC Bantamweight champion, took on Dean Bermudez in a stay busy fight. The bout was the second meeting between the two men, who had also met 13 months earlier. March 25th 2006-World Memorial Hall, Kobe, Hyogo, Japan Hozumi Hasegawa (19-2, 6) vs Veeraphol Sahaprom (51-2-2, 35) II In 2005 Japan's Hozumi Hasegawa [長谷川 穂積] claimed his first wold title as he out pointed Thai icon Veeraphol Sahaprom [ธีระพล สำราญกลาง]. The following year the two men had a rematch which was televised, albeit on delay, by British television channel Sky Sports. Here is sky's coverage of the rematch between the Thai icon and a man who would become one of the key figures in Japanese boxing over the last 20 years. The following year the men had a rematch which ended in eye catching fashion. (Note this version is in Japanese, there will also be an English version made available in the near future) April 16th 2005-Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan Hozumi Hasegawa (17-2, 5) vs Veeraphol Sahaprom (46-1-2, 31) In 2005 Japanese boxing saw the birth of an icon as Hozumi Hasegawa [長谷川 穂積] became a star following a career defining bout with Thai icon Veeraphol Sahaprom [ธีระพล สำราญกลาง] December 29th 1998-Central Gym, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Joichiro Tatsuyoshi (17-4-1, 12) Vs Veeraphol Sahaprom (20-1, 14) In late 1998 fans saw the popular Joichiro Tatsuyoshi [辰吉丈一郎] battle against Thailand's destructive Veeraphol Sahaprom [วีระพล นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น]. The bout was for the WBC Bantamweight title that Tatsuyoshi had won the previous year, claiming an upset win over Veeraphol's countryman Sirimongkol Singwancha, in what was a thrilling contest. These two men would later rematch, in 1999. Note-The video features notable build up to the fight, the fight it's self begins around 18:00 minutes into the video. January 11th 2002-Thanyaburi, Thailand Veeraphol Sahaprom (34-1-1, 25) vs Sergio Perez (23-9, 16) Thailand's Veeraphol Sahaprom [วีระพล นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] reigned as the WBC Bantamweight champion from 1998 to 2005, making a very impressive number of defenses. One of which came against the tough Sergio Perez. March 6th 2004-Super Arena, Saitama, Saitama, Japan Veeraphol Sahaprom (40-1-2, 27) vs Toshiaki Nishioka (23-3-3, 14) The fourth, and final, bout between Thailand's Veeraphol Sahaprom [วีระพล นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] and Japan's Toshiaki Nishioka [西岡 利晃] took place in 2004 with Nishioka hoping it would be 4th time lucky against his biggest rival. September 1st 2001-Arena, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Veeraphol Sahaprom (33-1, 24) vs Toshiaki Nishioka (22-3-1, 13) II The second meeting between Thai great Veeraphol Sahaprom [วีระพล นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] and Japan's Toshiaki Nishioka [西岡 利晃] took place in 2001, almost 15 months after their first meeting. Just like their first it was a very competitive bout. June 25th 2000-City Sogo Gym, Takasago, Hyogo, Japan Veeraphol Sahaprom (26-1, 19) vs Toshiaki Nishioka (20-2-1, 12) Boxing has had numerous great rivalries, one of the most notable of recent times was the 4 fight series between Thai great Veeraphol Sahaprom [วีระพล นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] and Japan's fantastic Toshiaki Nishioka [西岡 利晃]. This is the first fight between the two men. |
