January 9th 2014- Thailand Thong Sithluangphophun (10-0, 7) Vs Willem Marahina (4-14-1, 2) Some bouts look like they were destined to be mismatched the second they were made. One such case was PABA Featherweight title bout between the promising and unbeaten Thong Sithluangphophun and Indonesian journeyman Willem Marahina. The bout looked like a mismatch on paper and proved to be just as much of a mismatch inside the ring. (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก)

Thailand's promising Thong Sithluangphophun made the third defence of his PABA Featherweight title and scored his 5th straight stoppage when he stopped Indonesia's Yakobus Heluka in 3 rounds. Thong, one of the Thai's that we suggested keeping an eye on in one of our recent articles, didn't look at his best here but never looked like he was even close to breaking sweat as he slowly broke down his Indonesian foe. It was clear that the Thai was fighting well within himself but it would still have been nice to see a little more from such a talented and promising young fighter who really does have so much more in his locker than he showed here. As for Heluka he really is limited and it seems like with his lack of power he is always going to be viewed as a "safe" opponent for promising youngsters. He'll keep busy with fights like this though we do need to question just how many concussions he wants before he retires. Another, from the long list of rising Thai prospects is the very promising Thong Sithluangphophun. Thong is the current PABA Featherweight champion and although he's not yet making his mark on the world rankings he is hotly tipped to be a world ranked fighter in the coming years. Thong won the PABA title in January 2014 with a 2nd round TKO over Rick Paciones and record his third defence with a 3rd round KO over Indonesia's Tony Arema. The victory wasn't the most impressive we've seen from a prospect but it was still solid and showed that Thong has got the potential to become a very good fighter, especially when you consider he's just a 22 year old who was fighting in just his 8th professional bout.
