November 19th 2005-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (2-0, 2) vs Man Deuk Park (2-7-1) Japanese Super Featherweight Takashi Uchiyama [内山 高志] made his professional debut in 2005 and quickly amassed an impressive record. In his third bout he took on Korean Man Deuk Park in what was "KO Dyanmite's" first 8 round bout. November 1st 2008- Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (10-0, 8) vs Byung Joo Moon (9-5, 7) In 2008 Japan's Takashi Uchiyama [内山 高志] took on Byung Joo Moon in a bout for the OPBF Super Featherweight title, a title that Uchiyama was defending. Of course we all know who won this one, and what the winner went on to do following this bout, but it's still interesting to see a 28 year old Uchiyama in action. April 27th 2016-Ota-City General Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (24-0-1, 20) Vs Jezreel Corrales (19-1-0-1, 7) Earlier today Japanese fans had the chance to see a WBA Super Featherweight "super" title bout between local star Takashi Uchiyama [内山 高志] and little known Panamanian Jezreel Corrales. December 31st 2015-Ota-City General Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (23-0-1, 19) Vs Oliver Flores (27-1-2, 17) To end 2015 Japanese fans got the chance to see the fantastic Takashi Uchiyama defend his WBA Super Featherweight "super" title against the genuinely hapless Oliver Flores. December 31st 2011- Bunka Gym, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (17-0, 14) Vs Jorge Solis (41-3-2, 30) A recent tradition in Japan is to have big boxing shows on New Years Eve. At the moment there are two men linked to those events. On TBS there is Osaka star Kazuto Ioka, who has been headlining Ioka events from the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium for the past few years, the other is Takashi Uchiyama who is a staple of the TV Tokyo shows. Uchiyama's first "NYE" bout saw him take on Jorge Solis in what was, at the time, regarded as Uchiyama's first serious defence. Note-Although Uchiyama beat Takashi Miura prior to this bout, Miura hadn't yet established himself as a force internationally and the win over Miura didn't get the respect it deserved until significantly after that bout. December 31st 2012-Ota-City General Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (18-0-1, 15) Vs Bryan Vazquez (29-0, 15) In many ways a win can become more, or less, valuable as time goes on. Back in 2012 WBA Super Featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama was thought to have been facing a solid but unspectacular opponent from Costa Rica when he took on Bryan Vazquez, who was the WBA "interim" champion. As it turned out over the following few years Vazquez is certainly no mug and he has shown himself to be a credible fighter, which in retrospect makes Uchiyama's performance here all the more impressive. July 16th 2012-Winghat, Kasukabe, Saitama, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (18-0, 15) Vs Michael Farenas (34-3-3, 26) Japan's Takashi Uchiyama may be the Super Featherweight kingpin but there is a mark against his name, that came against Filipino tough Michael Farenas back in 2012. For those who missed that one we've managed to come across the full fight video here. Note- We know that this video has been made unavailable in more than 40 countries. We're sorry for any inconvenience with fans unable to watch the bout. We decided however that it was best that not everyone missed out, and we also know there are ways to work around the regional block on the viewers side. May 17th 2010-Super Arena, Saitama, Saitama, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (14-0, 11) Vs Angel Granados (18-8, 8) At the start of 2010 Japan's Takashi Uchiyama scored a break out win, stopping Juan Carlos Salgado to claim the WBA Super Featherweight title. In his first defense Uchiyama took on the completely unknown Angel Granados in what was little more than the typical "easy first defense. September 20th 2010-Super Arena, Saitama, Saitama, Japan Takashi Uchiyama (15-0, 12) Vs Roy Mukhlis (23-2-2, 18) Japan's Takashi Uchiyama has been the kingpin of the Super Featherweight division in recent years though a number of early defenses came against relatively unknown foes, including Indonesian fighter Roy Muhklis, who had won 12 successive bouts but never proven himself as a genuine contender. This was Uchiyama's second defense of the title and came well before he had distinguished himself as the divisional kingpin. Note-The fight begins about 5 minutes in. |
