April 14th 2014-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Yohei Tobe (7-1-1, 4) vs Taiki Eto (12-2, 9) In 2014 the once touted Yohei Tobe [戸部洋平] faced off with Taiki Eto [江藤 大喜] in a bout for the then vacant Japanese Super Flyweight title. April 22nd 2015- Prefectural Gymnasium, Osaka, Osaka, Japan Sho Ishida (18-0, 10) Vs Taiki Eto (14-3, 10) Through his first 15 fights Sho Ishida had rarely lost a round. He had struggled in fight #16 as he claimed the Japanese Super Flyweight title, with a very well earned win over Yohei Tobe, but that was expected as he had his first taste of a title bout. In his second defense of that title Ishida took on Taiki Eto, a man who had been stopped by Tobe. Given their relative results against Tobe we had expected this to be a foregone conclusion however this turned out to be much more competitive than we had anticipated. (Video courtesy of yossy112311) Earlier this year Filipino fighter Zoren Pama impressed us with his toughness as he ended up taking the early onslaught from the monstrously heavy handed Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and fighting back making Srisaket go to plan B before the Thai was able to escape with a technical decision following a headclash. Today Pama was in action again in a bout where he was the clear under-dog and fighting on the road though again his toughness shone through. This time around he took on Japan's Taiki Eto, a heavy handed Japanese fighter who recently lost in a Japanese Super Flyweight title bout. Again Pama's toughness shone through despite coming up short and it seems very clear that Pama will get a lot of work on the road as a tough journeyman. You may be unaware however that Koki is one of 3 fighting brothers along with Shingo Eto, a Super Featherweight who will be fighting for the Japanese national title shortly, and Taiki Eto, Koki's twin brother. Footage of Taiki and Shingo is harder to come by than it is for Koki though we have managed to track down one of Taiki's bout, his 2011 bout with Thai visitor Petchsaksin Bovigym. We won't ruin the bout though we will say that if you like watching Koki in action you will likely enjoy watching Taiki. (Video courtesy of Boxeo Total - Official) |
