August 5th 1984-Los Angeles, USA Sung Kil Moon Vs Robert Shannon In the 1984 Summer Olympics fight fans saw Korean warrior Sung Kil Moon take on American foe Robert Shannon, in one of the preliminary bouts. 1986-Seoul, South Korea Sung Kil Moon Vs G. D. Kamble At the 1986 Asian Games Korean fans saw their fighters dominate, taking all 12 Gold medals! One of the men starring at the games was Sung Kil Moon [문성길] who would later go on to become a professional star. On route to his gold medal Moon took on Indian fighter G. D. Kamble. February 27th 1993-Olympic Fencing Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea Sung Kil Moon (18-1, 14) vs Hilario Zapata (43-9-1, 14) In 1993 Korean warrior Sung Kil Moon [문성길] scored one of his most impressive victories, as he made surprisingly light work of Hilario Zapata, albeit a Zapata who was heading into retirement and wouldn't fight again March 16th 1991-Pabellón Príncipe Felipe, Zaragoza, Aragón, Spain Sung Kil Moon (13-1, 10) Vs Nana Yaw Konadu (20-1-1, 16) II In 1991 fans saw the rematch between Korean favourite Sung Kil Moon [문성길] and Ghana's Nana Yaw Konadu. The bout, which took place in Spain came about 14 months after their first clash, which featured 5 knockdowns. November 11th 1993-Indoor Gymnasium, Pohang City, South Korea Sung Kil Moon (20-1, 15) Vs Jose Luis Bueno (23-3-1, 17) In 1993 boxing fans saw Sun Kil Moon [문성길 ] fight for the final time. His final bout saw the Korean great battle against Jose Luis Bueno in what was Moon's 16th world title fight. July 3rd 1993-Education Culture Center, Seoul, South Korea Sung Kil Moon (19-1, 15) Vs Carlos Gabriel Salazar (33-3-1, 12) Korean fighter Sung Kil Moon [문성길] fought his final bouts in 1993. One of those final bouts saw Moon battle Carlos Gabriel Salazar. October 31st 1992-Olympic Fencing Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea Sung Kil Moon (17-1, 14) Vs Greg Richardson (29-5, 4) In 1992 Korean legend Sun Kil Moon [문성길] battled former Bantamweight title holder Greg Richardson. March 8th 1987-Chamsil Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea Sung Kil Moon (0-0) vs Ric Bajelot (11-2-3) In 1987 Korean fans got the chance to see the debut of Sung Kil Moon [문성길], who faced Ric Bajelot. Moon would later go on to establish himself as a memorable fighter winning two world titles and fighting in 16 world titles fights, an impressive feat given he only fought 22 times. February 19th 1989-Chungmu Gymnasium, Daejeon, South Korea Sung Kil Moon (8-0, 7) Vs Chiaki Kobayashi (14-3, 5) In 1988 Korean warrior Sung Kil Moon [문성길] claimed the WBA Bantamweight title, in what was just his 7th professional bout. In his second defense Moon battled Chiaki Kobayashi, who had won the Japanese Bantamweight title in 1987 with an upset over the then unbeaten Naoto Takahashi. Notably this would be Kobayashi's final professional bout. |
