March 23rd 2015-Ayuthaya, Thailand Stamp Kiatniwat (12-0, 5) Vs Wilber Andogan (10-18-4, 4) Last year we saw Thai teenager Stamp Kiatniwat garner real attention with his excellent win over Kwanthai Sithmorseng. That win really put Stamp on our map and suggested he was one of the sports premier teenage prospects. In January this year we then saw Stamp being given a very, very tough test by Espinos Sabu. That tough test left us wondering just how good Stamp was and coming into this bout with Wilber Andogan we thought Stamp had questions to answer. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th)

January 2nd 2014- Thailand Stamp Kiatniwat (11-0, 5) Vs Espinos Sabu (12-4-1, 5) In 2014 we were impressed by Thai teenage Stamp Kiatniwat who looked like one of the most promising prospects in Thailand. To begin 2015 he was given a solid test by the under-rated Espinos Sabu of Indonesia. Unlike many Indonesian's Sabu didn't turn up to lose or just survive, instead he came to win and to upset the touted teenager. For those who recognise Sabu he has been in with a solid series of fighters including Rusalee Samor, Warlito Parrenas, Rex Tso and Galih Susanto with his fight against Tso being a bit of a hidden gem from late last year. (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) One of the most exciting Thai prospects right now is youngster Stamp Kiatniwat. Stamp, a teenager who has shown real promise, was back in action recently as he took on Filipino journeyman Geboi Mansalayao in what was another develop based bout for the youngster who is clearly several years away from his prime. It won't come as much of a surprise if we were to say that Stamp won, relatively easily, though we have to say that we're hoping to see Stamp take a clear step up in 2015. He already holds a very good win over Kwanthai Sithmorseng and he should be looking to build on that result rather than fight imported journeymen like Mansalayao, especially considering that he is defending belts in fights like this. (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) Thailand is certainly going through a lot of changes in it's boxing right now with many of the old guard, such as Denkaosan Kaovichit, looking likely to retire in the coming 12-24 months whilst the new guard arrives on the scene. Arguably the most promising of "the new guard" is Stamp Kiatniwat, fighting as Stamp Kratingdaenggym for this particular bout. Stamp is a much touted teenage who scored the most impressive win of his career so far when he over-came former world title holder Kwanthai Sithmorseng in a recent 12 rounder that really should have put Stamp on to boxing map, despite the fact he is still a very, very young and prodigious talent. Although Stamp didn't dominate the contest he that he's very much a man with the potential to go a very long away in this sport and the desire to prove himself as a talented young fighter. This win, may not earn him a world title fight but certainly shows that his desire is there to become one of the future stars of boxing in Thailand. One thing that is very interesting about this fight is that we are so used to seeing Thai fights fought in the day time under the intense and sunlight that this fight almost looks "wrong" being fought in the night time, a very unique experience for a fight in Thailand. (Video is thanks to Boxers in Thailand World boxing - Boxing) Whilst the professional boxing scene in Thailand is currently nothing to write home about the country does have a number of prospects working their way up, developing their skills and catching our attention. One of those is Stamp Kiatniwat who looks like he could be something to really rave about, even if he's an unknown outside of Thailand. Stamp first came to out attention last year when he faced John Bima. We knew Bima wasn't anything special but Stamp still impressed with some nice tools for a young kid fighting just his 5th professional contest. Stamp showed some crisp punching with his right and also impressed us with his willingness to stand and fight on the inside. Sure it wasn't a punch perfect performance but for the young teenage it was a solid performance punctuated with a highlight reel finish, the sort of thing that can help create a buzz about a fighter. The Thai boxing scene at the moment isn't looking it's healthiest however there are murmurs of a golden generation slowly coming through with a lot of young and promising fighters all looking to leave their mark on the sport. None of the youngsters are hugely proven, yet, but one or two do seem to be getting a lot of attention due to their promise. One of those youngsters is the very young but very promising Stamp Kiatniwat. The baby faced Stamp has shown developing technical skills, nice offensive work and a lovely variety to his shots, all of which was shown in his stoppage victory against Indonesia's Johan Wahyudi. The victory may not have been the most impressive but it did show the foundations of a promising youngster in action and also included some very nice body shots from the Thai who appears to be committed to his body shots. In fairness to Wahyudi he didn't come to just make up the numbers and threw plenty of leather at Stamp though lacked the power and skills to trouble the Thai who looked very calm under the pressure. At the moment we do feel there is still a lot of improvement for Stamp to make but we've got to admit that we like him and can see a lot of promise in the youngster who appears, from recent fights, to be discovering his man strength.
