October 7th 2000-Tokyo, Japan Yong In Jo (10-2-, 6) vs Shin Yamato (16-3-4, 4) II Around 4 months after Yong In Jo [조용인] had beaten Shin Yamato for the OPBF Super Bantamweight title Jo travelled back over to Tokyo to give Yamato a chance to reclaim the title.

June 17th 2000-Tokyo, Japan Yong In Jo (9-2, 5) vs Shin Yamato (16-2-4, 4)I In 2000 Korean fighter Yong In Jo [조용인] travelled to Japan to challenger OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Shin Yamato, in the first of two bouts between the men. October 3rd 1998-Tokyo, Japan Shin Yamato (13-1-3, 2) vs The Musashi (13-10-4, 7) In 1998 the then Japanese Bantamweight champion Shin Yamato took on The Musashi, in what was Yamato's second defense of the title. June 19th 1999-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Shin Yamato (13-2-4, 2) vs Sung Pyo Hong (0-2) In January 1999 popular Japanese fighter Shin Yamato lost to OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Jess Maca, one of the most notable Japanese killers of the era. In his return to the ring a few months later Yamato took on Korean foe Sung Pyo Hong in a 10 round bout contracted just below the Super Bantamweight limit. June 6th 1998-Tokyo, Japan Shin Yamato (12-1-3, 2) vs Wataru Kaito (9-4-2, 4) In 1998 the then Japanese Bantamweight champion Shin Yamato took on Wataru Kaito in Tokyo,in what was Yamato's first defense of the domestic title. February 29th 2000-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Shin Yamato (15-2-4, 4) vs Ki Oh Kil (9-4-2, 4) In 2000 fight fans in Japan saw Shin Yamato and Ki Oh Kil battle for the OPBF Super Bantamweight title. January 23rd 1999-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Jess Maca (35-16-3, 16) vs Shin Yamato (13-1-4, 2) In our great fighters can build various reputations. One such reputation was the "Japanese Killer" tag that was applied to Jess Maca, who regularly travelled to Japan and beat local fighters. On one of his visits to Japan Maca faced Shin Yamato, who was challenging for the OPBF Bantamweight title. Note- This video is the TV version of the fight and some rounds are missing from the footage. June 17th 2000-Tokyo, Japan Young-Jin Cho (2-2, 1) vs Shin Yamato (16-2-4, 4) In 2000 Shin Yamato claimed the OPBF Super Bantamweight champion. In his first defense of that title he took on little known Korean Young Jin Cho. Cho was a former Korean Super Fly and Super Bantamweight but was completely unknown outside of Korea. Note-It is thought that Cho may have been in some "unrecorded" bouts as his boxrec has a notable period of inactivity. |
