May 8th 1987-Entertainment Centre, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Samart Payakaroon (14-0, 8) Vs Jeff Fenech (15-0, 12) In 1987 fans saw Thai great Samart Payakaroon [สามารถ พยัคฆ์อรุณ] battle Australian warrior Jeff Fenech. November 14th 1993-Bangkok, Thailand Samart Payakaroon (17-1, 10) vs Ignacio Jacome (2-5-1, 1) In the late 1980's Thailand's fantastic Samart Payakaroon [สามารถ พยัคฆ์อรุณ] took a break from combat sport. That break finished in 1993 and the second bout of his comeback saw him battle Ignacio Jerome. January 18th 1986-Hua Mark Indoor Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand Samart Payakaroon (11-0, 6) Vs Lupe Pintor (54-8-2, 41) In 1986 Muay Thai legend Samart Payakaroon [สามารถ พยัคฆ์อรุณ] had his first professional boxing world title fight as he took on Mexican veteran Lupe Pintor. September 11th 1994-Clarion MP Resort, Trang, Thailand Samart Payakaroon (21-1, 12) Vs Eloy Rojas (28-1-1, 24) In 1994 Thailand's Samart Payakaroon [สามารถ พยัคฆ์อรุณ] closed out his career, challenging the then WBA Featherweight champion Eloy Rojas. At his best Samart was a legendary Muay Thai fighter and rose impressively through the boxing rankings, beating a former world champion on his debut, but by 1994 he was a significantly lesser fighter to the one he had been in his pomp. December 10th 1986- Hua Mark Indoor Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand Samart Payakaroon (13-0, 7) Vs Juan Meza (43-6, 35) When we talk about Thai greats one cannot forget Samart Payakaroon. He was one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters and managed to make a mark not just on Muay Thai and boxing but also cinema and music. For many fans however the best memory of him is his bout with dangerous Mexican Juan Meza. The bout was Payakaroon's first defense of the WBC Super Bantamweight title and ended in amazing fashion with Payakaroon showing some of the most arrogant defense in the history of the sport.
