July 4th 1998-Tokyo, Japan Ryuhei Sugita (13-0-1, 11) vs Go Kaneuchi (10-1, 6) In 1998 Japanese fights saw Ryuhei Sugita fight in his first title fight, as he took on Go Kaneuchi for the vacant Japanese Super Featherweight title. Whilst the contest was the first title bout for Sugita, who later went on to fight for world honours, it was also Kaneuchi's final bout as a professional fighter. February 8th 2004-Memorial Center, Gifu, Gifu, Japan Yodsanan Sor Nanthachai (42-2-1, 35) vs Ryuhei Sugita (25-1-2, 21) The "Thai Tyson" Yodsanan Sor Nanthachai [ยอดสนั่น 3เคแบตเตอรี่] fought his first 45 bouts at home in Thailand. His 46th bout however came in Japan when he took on Japan's Ryuhei Sugita [杉田竜平] in Suguita's birth place of Gifu. |
