Hong Kong's Rex Tso may well be one of the most exciting fighters on the planet but he's also one of the most flawed "world ranked" fighters around. Some of those flaws were shown up in a big way in his memorable contest with Thailand's Ratchasak KKP, who twice dropped "The Wonderboy". Whilst the bout will always be known for the knockdowns there also needs to be real credit given to Tso who who showed heart by continuing to fight and also ended up showing that he can box intelligently, although it did take the knockdowns to bring the boxing skills out of him. Hong Kong's Rex Tso is bound to be in some really brilliant contests before his career is over, heck he's been in some great ones already. He's not only exciting but also popular and can draw solid crowds as part of the growing Macau scene. So far his career has been exciting and relatively easy going however he has been given 2 serious tests with one of those seeing him score a very fortunate victory against Thailand's Rusalee Samor. Samor, a Thai fighter from the same stable as Amnat Ruenroeng, gave Tso all he could handle and more in a fight that showed up a lot of Tso's limitations. Unfortunately it also showed up the lengths judges go to keep in favour of the promoter with one judge, Salven Lagumbay, only giving Samor a round. (Video courtesy of DefPromotionsHK) Macau is quickly becoming a new Asian hub of boxing and that's courtesy not just of Zou Shiming and Manny Pacquiao but also lesser known local talent, such as the always fun to watch Rex Tso who is really never in an unexciting bout. We saw Tso in action on the most recent Macau card as he battled against Indonesian journeyman Espinos Sabu in what was one of the shows most exciting contests. We won't pretend that this bout was a FOTY candidate but it was certainly an entertaining affair between two men looking to put on a show and give the fans their money's worth |
