April 24th 2016-Saphanhin, Muang Phuket, Thailand Petchchorhae Kokietgym (16-1, 8) vs Manachai Laos PDR (0-0) This past weekend Thai fans saw the once beaten Petchchorhae Kokietgym [เพชรจอแฮ ปูนอินทรียิม] face off against Manachai Laos PDR. September 4th 2015- Saimai District, Bangkok, Thailand Petchchorhae Kokietgym (13-0, 8) v Iwan Zoda (6-1, 5) II Last year we saw Petchchorhae Kokietgym out Indonesian novice Iwan Zoda in a bout that saw us coming away impressed with both men. At the time Zoda was a real novice, fighting for just the second time as a professional, whilst Petchchorhae was fighting for the 8th time. Today, some 11 months after their first meeting, they fought for the second time. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) May 15th 2015- Thailand Petchchorhae Kokietgym (11-0, 7) Vs Domi Neneokeba (11-23-1, 7) Thailand has an active boxing scene and a number of prospects, such as Petchchorhae Kokietgym. Unfortunately most prospects go through the same journeymen as they come up through the ranks and one of those journeyman is the wild haired Indonesian Domi Nenokeba. Although not the greatest fighter Nenokeba has been in with a who's who of Thai boxing and was recent in there with Petchchorhae in what always appeared to be a mismatch. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) March 1st 2015- Nakhon Pathom, Thailand Petchchorhae Kokietgym (10-0, 7) vs Samuel Tehuayo (18-33-2, 3) Promising Thai Petchchorhae Kokietgym continued his development this past Sunday when he took on Indonesian veteran Samuel Tehuayo in a bout designed to get Petchchorhae some much needed rounds under his belt. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) October 3rd 2014- Ban Rai Temple, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand Petchchorhae Kokietgym (7-0, 5) Vs Iwan Zoda (1-0) A lot of the time in Thailand we see local fighters taking on novices from around Asia as they look to develop their records and skills against relative weak opponents, often from Indonesia, China and the Philippines. Sometimes however the visiting fighter can surprise us and show that whilst he is inexperienced there is something about them worth making a note of. One such fighter who caught our eye when we finally got around to see him was Indonesian teenager Iwan Zoda who took on Petchchorhae Kokietgym in a bout where he was supposed to just make up the numbers but actually did a lot more than just that. This is one of those rare bouts where both guys actually came out looking better despite the result of the contest. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) December 9th 2014- Bangkok, Thailand Petchchorhae Kokietgym (9-0, 6) vs Johan Wahyudi (9-30, 5) We regularly see unbeaten Thai fighters battling against Indonesian visitors, who seem to fight more often in Thailand than they do in their homeland. We saw one such fight this Tuesday when the unbeaten Petchchorhae Kokietgym, fighting for the 9th time this year, battled against Johan Wahyudi, who was fighting for the 20th time in Thailand. Wahyudi, like many regular visitors to Thailand, is a limited fighter who is there for what looks a bit like a public sparring session and to try and keep the youngsters active. Sadly he knows his role in the sport and rarely fights to win, instead fighting to take a prospect a few rounds without getting too badly hurt. (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) One of the disappointing things about the Thai fight scene is the numerous regional title bouts that seem to mean very little in the grand scheme of things. One such bout was the WBC silver Asian Boxing Council Flyweight title bout between Petchchorhae Kokietgym and Rizky Pratama. Both men entered the bout as novices, both were young and both certainly would liked winning a shiny belt but the belt wasn't necessary considering the stage in the career's of the men involved. Despite the fact both were novices one man looked the better fighter through out and it showed with only one man ever looking like the winner. Sadly however the finishing blow appears to come from a very clear low blow. If you're a guy watching this we need to advise you to cup yourself down there before seeing the ending of this one.
