December 5th 2015-Royal Square Bangkok, Thailand Petchbarngborn Kokietgym (37-7-1, 16) v John Bajawa (11-11, 7) II Thailand's Petchbarngborn Kokietgym has been in and around the world rankings for years. Rather than rely on his ranking he has been keeping active and recently faced limited Indonesian fighter John Bajawa in a stay busy fight. Notably this was the second meeting between the two men this year, following a 4th round TKO win for Petchbarngborn in January November 6th 2015- Singkorn Border Pass Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand Petchbarngborn Kokietgym (34-7-1, 15) Vs Hengky Baransano (11-7, 4) Thailand's Petchbarngborn Kokietgym has been in and around the world rankings for years and seems to be slowly edging himself towards a world title fight. Recently he was in action against the limited Indonesian visitor Hengky Baransano, in a bout for the PABA Super Flyweight. September 25th 2015-Thailand Petchbarngborn Kokietgym (33-7-1, 15) Vs Espinos Sabu (12-6-2, 5) A recent PABA Super Flyweight title bout saw Petchbarngborn Kokietgym put his title on the line against Indonesia's Espinos Sabu in what looked like a potential banana skin for the world ranked Thai. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) May 15th 2015- Thailand Petchbarngborn Kokietgym (31-7-1, 14) Vs Tommy Seran (24-4, 15) World ranked Thail Petchbarngborn Kokietgym may be angling for a title fight later this year but before then came an interesting match up with Indonesian Tommy Seran. Seran entered the ring with less than stellar recent form but knew that a win would boost his hopes of a world title fighter in the year. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) March 1st 2015- Nakhon Pathom, Thailand Petchbarngborn Kokietgym (30-7-1, 13) vs Frans Damur Palue (10-6-2, 5) PABA Super Flyweight champion Petchbarngborn Kokietgym recently put his title on the line as he took on little known Indonesian challenger Frans Damur Palue in what looked like a mismatch. Despite the huge differential in their records the PABA sanctioned this as a title bout leading us to question just how bad the challengers can be for PABA title bouts. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) January 10th 2015- Thailand Petchbarngborn Kokietgym (29-7-1, 12) Vs John Bajawa (12-8, 6) World ranked Petchbarngborn Kokietgym returned to the ring this Saturday for his first bout of the new year and fought against the limited John Bajawa. The bout was little more than a stay busy fight for the Thai who appeared to have too much of everything for the Indonesian visitor who was eventually forced to retire with a clear injury. (Video courtesy of ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) Thailand's Petchbarngborn Kokietgym is one of many world ranked Thai's who has yet to really impress us. We're unsure if many of Petchbarngborn's unimpressive contests are down to him going through the motions, at many Thai's do, or whether he's just a little bit more limited than his rankings would suggest. Despite having never really been that impressed by the Thai it does seem he can look good when he needs to, as he did when he finished off Filipino Macrea Gandionco after several powerful looking shots. The shots may not have been enough to knock Gandionco unconcious but they were enough to knock the fight out of him. (Video ทีเคโอ มวยโลก) |
