August 8th 1995- Tokyo, Japan Naotaka Hozumi (6-0, 5) vs Kevin Palmer (8-0-1, 6) I In 1995 fight fans in Tokyo saw the hard hitting Naotaka Hozumi [保住 直孝] battle against Japanese based American Kevin Palmer in a bout for the vacant Japanese Middleweight title. Interestingly these two would fight again, in 2001, with that bout being for the OPBF title.

November 2nd 1999-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Naotaka Hozumi (13-1-1, 11) vs Jin Yul Song (3-2, 1)* I In late 1999 Japanese fight fans saw local puncher Naotaka Hozumi faces off with Korean foe Jin Yul Song in the first of two bouts between the men, who also clashed in 2001. At this point in time Hozumi was the Japanese national champion at Middleweight whilst Song was the Korean champion. *Song's record is though to be incomplete. August 4th 1998-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Naotaka Hozumi (9-1-1, 8) vs KwangBok Choi (0-3) In August 1998 Japanese Middleweight Naotaka Hozumi, who would later go on to win the Japanese and OPBF title and challenger for a world title, took on Korean visitor KwangBok Choi. October 10th 2002-Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan Naotaka Hozumi (21-2-1, 18) vs William Joppy (33-2-1, 24) In late 2002 Japanese fighter Naotaka Hozumi, a former OPBF and JBC champion, challenged the then WBA Middleweight champion William Joppy. February 28th 2000-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Naotaka Hozumi (14-1-1, 12) vs Minoru Horiuchi (21-5, 19) At the turn of the millennium Japanese fight fans saw Naotaka Hozumi [保住直孝], the then Japanese Middleweight champion, take on Minoru Horiuchi [堀内稔], in what was Hozumi's first defense of the belt. |
