May 28th 20130-Convention Towers and Exhibition Center, Hong Kong S.A.R., China Kuok Kun Ng (0-0) vs Nibesh Ghale (0-0) In Hong Kong in May 2013 we got the chance to see Macau's Kuok Kun Ng take on Nepalese fighter Nibesh Ghale. Whilst neither man managed to go on to do anything major with their careers it is worth noting that Ng was one of the regular features when Top Rank were putting on shows in Macau, and was a fairly popular local attraction at one point in his career.

January 29th 2017-Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort, Macao, Macao S.A.R., China Kuok Kun Ng (10-0, 6) Vs Patomsuk Pathompothong (33-5-1, 20) Earlier today fans in Macau saw local star Kuok Kun Ng take on Thai veteran Patomsuk Pathompothong in what was a huge step up in class for the "Macau Kid". Note - Boxrec and CCTV5 list Patomsuk by the name Komsan Polsan November 24th 2013-Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort, Macao, Macao S.A.R., China Kuok Kun Ng (1-0) v You Jie Zeng (5-4, 5) Macao might not have become the massive Asian boxing hub that some hoped for, but it does have a potential local draw, the Macao kid Kuok Kun Ng. Ng's second fight saw him battled You Jie Zeng. March 7th 2015- Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort, Macao, Macao S.A.R., China Kuok Kun Ng (6-0, 2) Vs Chingchai Kiatpracha (7-2, 3) We've really enjoyed Bob Arum's shows in Macau. The Top Rank events might be best known for the Zou Shiming side shows but it's really the under-cards that have excited us over the past few years with a number of exciting bouts and promising emerging fighters. Among those fighters is Macau's very own Kuok Kun Ng who was involved in a wonderfully exciting, though show lived, tussle with Thai visitor Chingchai Kiatpracha. The Macau boxing scene is obvious dependent on the success of Zou Shiming though with Shiming being in his 30's already the long term success depends on the success of other local talent such as the exciting Rex Tso, from Hong Kong, and Macau's very own Kuok Kun Ng. We all know Tso is limited but exciting but Ng strikes us a better schooled and more technically capable fighter, in fact we like Ng a lot. Sadly in his most recent bout Ng discovered something very telling, his corner isn't as good as he is. Ng was fighting the rough and tough Steve Attard and after a headclash in round 1 he was cut with his corner unsure of what to do. It became a major issue later in the bout and hopefully will have taught Ng a valuable lesson, he needs a corner with some experience not a corner who are as new to the sport as he is. If he can get that sorted for his next bout then we'd expect to see a more confident and complete performance from a man who really is developing into a talented, though still flawed, young fighter. |
