April 25th 1992-Olympic Hall, Ansan, South Korea Young Kyun Park (21-1-1, 12) vs Koji Matsumoto (10-2-1, 4) In 1992 Korean "Bulldozer" Park Young Kyun [박영균] looked to make his 4th defense of the WBA Featherweight title, taking on Japanese challenger Koji Matsumoto [松本好二] in Ansan, South Korea. This would be the first of 3 world title bouts for Matsumoto, who later became a trainer at the Ohashi Gym, and whose son, Keisuke Matsumoto, is now an emerging prospect.

September 22nd 1988-Yoyogi #2 Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan Koji Matsumoto (26-5-1, 15) vs Freddie Norwood (32-0-1, 20) In the late 1990's Japan's Koji Matsumoto [松本好二] challenged WBA Featherweight champion Freddie Norwood in what was Matsumoto's third world title shot. May 24th 1997-Suwon Gymnasium, Suwon, South Korea Yong-Soo Choi (22-2, 13) vs Koji Matsumoto (24-4-1, 13) In 1997 exciting Korean Yong Soo Choi [최용수], the then WBA Super Featherweight champion, took on Japan's Koji Matsumoto [松本好二], who has since become one of the most renowned trainers in Japan. |
