There is an old adage in boxing about records being for DJ's. Strangely it seems that fighters and fans in West have all become DJ's recentl paying more not to unbeaten records than skills, opposition and how fun fighters actually are to watch. It's almost become a case of records and number defining how good a fighter actually is as opposed to who they've beaten. That's not to that Kenta Shimizu and Munehito Kijima, who between them entered this bout with a combined ledger of 11-9-2 (3) are great fighters but both guys have picked up losses and draws at a near 1-to-1 rate and yet they still manage to put on a credible and entertaining fight here, despite a somewhat early and disappointing stoppage from the referee. Interestingly this was the second time the two men had met with Kijima managing to hold Shimizu to a draw on what was Kijima's debut back in 2010.
