This was Kawashima's second shot at a title, following a loss in an OPBF title fight, whilst Sasaki was looking to make his first defense of the Japanese national title. June 27th 2000-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Katsushige Kawashima (15-1, 11) Vs Yuji Nagai (1-0) In 2000 Japanese hopeful, and future world champion, Katsushige Kawashima [川嶋勝重] took on novice Yuji Nagai [永井祐司 June 28th 2004-Arena, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Masamori Tokuyama (30-2-1, 8) Vs Katsushige Kawashima (25-3, 17) II In June 2008 Japan's Masamori Tokuyama [徳山 昌守] was looking to continue his reign as the WBC Super Flyweight champion and took on Katsushige Kawashima [川嶋勝重], who he had beaten a year earlier. January 3rd 2005-Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Katsushige Kawashima (27-3, 18) vs Jose Navarro (21-0, 9) One of the most controversial decisions in Japan in recent years saw Katsushige Kawashima [川嶋勝重] battle against Jose Navarro in a WBC Super Flyweight title bout. June 23rd 2003-Arena, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Masamori Tokuyama (28-2-1, 8) vs Katsushige Kawashima (23-2, 16) I For most of the last decade the Kameda family has been the cause of controversial in Japan. Before the trio became the controversial ones there wasa Masamori Tokuyama [徳山昌守], a Japanese-Korean who fought under the North Korean flag. Tokuyama would fight 3 bouts with Katsushige Kawashima [川嶋勝重], here is the first of those bouts with Tokuyama risking the WBC Super Flyweight title against Kawashima. January 14th 2008-Bunka Gym, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Katsushige Kawashima (32-6, 21) Vs Alexander Munoz (31-2, 27) The Ohashi gym is, right now, one of the most notable in Japan. It's first champion was Katsushige Kawashima [川嶋勝重] who closed out his career in 2008 following his bout against Alexander Munoz, who was fighting his 7th bout in the county. January 9th 2006-Pacifico, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan Katsushige Kawashima (28-4, 18) v Petchklongphai Sor Thantip (4-8) In 2004 and 2005 Katsushige Kawashima was the WBC Super Flyweight champion. His bout following the loss of his title to rival Masamori Tokuyama saw him take on Thailand's Petchklongphai Sor Thantip in what was, essentially, a confidence builder before Kawashima rebuilt for another title fight. |
