When we talk about rising Thai's there is none that have had quite as much attention as the wonderfully named Knockout CP Freshmart. It's fair to say that when he first turned professional he got a lot of attention for two reasons. Firstly he won the WBC Youth Minimumweight title on his debut and not many fighters win titles on debut, or feature in 10 rounders on debut. Secondly his name, there has never been a boxer with a better name for the sport than "Knockout". What we have here is Knockout's 6th professional bout and his 5th title defence. This bout bout saw Knockout taking on Filipino southpaw Jonathan Refugio. Refugio, is a young Filipino with real ambition, and although he had lost 3 of his previous 5 fights they had included bouts with Merlito Sabillo and Wanheng Menayothin and were nothing to be ashamed by. In this bout Refugio managed to take a few rounds from the Thai though was a clear loser who had to pull himself off the canvas on round 2. If you've not seen Knockout before this bout does show an inexperienced fighter facing his first skilled southpaw and shouldn't be viewed as Knockout as his best, instead it's the Thai getting 10 rounds against a southpaw, something that is likely to help him in the future. |
