February 13th 1989-Tokyo, Japan Iwao Otomo (22-4-2, 9) vs Noboru Godai (19-2-2, 17) In early 1989 Japanese Lightweight champion Iwao Otomo [大友巌], seeking his 9th defense of his title, faced off with Noboru Godai [五代登], who was looking to become the first 3-weight Japanese national champion after previously holding the Japanese Featherweight and Super Featherweight titles. For fans who haven't seen this it is well worth a watch, It's brutal, two way action and June 19th 1989-Tokyo, Japan Iwao Otomo (19-3-2, 17) vs Bong Chun Park (6-7-4, 2) In 1989 the hard hitting Iwao Otomo took on OPBF Lightweight champion Bong Chun Park from South Korea. Although this isn't the complete fight it is a TV edit of the bout. May 11th 1992-Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan Orzubek Nazarov (11-0, 10) vs Iwao Otomo (22-4-5, 19) In May 1992 Japanese based Kyrgyzstan born Orzubek Nazarov challenged OPBF Lightweight champion Iwao Otomo. Coming in to this Otomo has been the champion since June 1989 |
