May 3rd 2007-Ariake Colosseum, Tokyo, Japan Hozumi Hasegawa (21-2, 7) vs Simpiwe Vetyeka (16-0, 9) In April 2005 Hozumi Hasegawa [長谷川穂積] claimed the WBC Bantamweight title. Just over 2 years later he made his 4th defense of the title, taking on the then unbeaten Simpiwe Vetyeka from South Africa. At the time Vetyeka was unknown outside of South Africa, but would later score big wins at Featherweight against Daud Yordan and Chris John, becoming the WBA champion in 2013.

He returned to the ring that September to make his first defense, as he faced off with Mexican challenger Gerardo Martinez. March 25th 2006-World Memorial Hall, Kobe, Hyogo, Japan Hozumi Hasegawa (19-2, 6) vs Veeraphol Sahaprom (51-2-2, 35) II In 2005 Hozumi Hasegawa [長谷川 穂積] shocked the boxing world by defeating Thai icon Veeraphol Sahaprom [ธีระพล สำราญกลาง], to become the WBC Bantamweight champion. In 2006 the two men met again, with Sahaprom looking to become a 3-time world champion. April 16th 2005-Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan Hozumi Hasegawa (17-2, 5) vs Veeraphol Sahaprom (46-1-2, 31) In Spring 2005 Thai icon Veeraphol Sahaprom [ธีระพล สำราญกลาง] travelled to Tokyo to take on Japan's Hozumi Hasegawa [長谷川 穂積], with the Thai trying to extend his lengthy reign as the WBC Bantamweight champion.
