July 2nd 2011-Centro de Usos Multiples, Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico Edrin Dapudong (24-3, 14) Vs Hernan Marquez (30-2, 23) Filipino fighters have, historically, made their name on travels. One fighter who hoped to do the same in 2011 was Edrin Dapudong, who took on the then WBA Flyweight champion Hernan Marquez in what looked like a genuinely intriguing match up on paper.

June 19th 2010-Mesón de los Deportes, Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico Edrin Dapudong (21-2, 11) Vs Jesus Jimenez (29-6, 21) Filipino fighter Edrin Dapudong is known as "The Sting" and although his record might not suggest it at first glance he really does have more than just a bit of "sting" on his shots, just as Jesus Jimenez found out in 2010. Filipino fighters don't usually have much luck in South Africa and that was shown in November 2012 when Edrin Dapudong was controversially beaten, via split decision, by Gideon Buthelezi. The bout was one many felt Dapudong had been robbed in and their was enough controversy to force a rematch the following year. In the rematch Dapudong, known as "The Sting", got revenge on Buthelezi inside a round as he scored a 1 punch KO with a devastating straight left hand that sent the South African down for the 10 count. The bout saw Dapudong becoming the IBO Super Flyweight champion and saw him living up to his name of "The Sting" in brilliant fashion. Oddly however he will be returning to South Africa for a third successive fight on July 18th 2014, more than 13 months after this bout, as he attempts to defend his belg against Lwandile Sityatha.
