Some of the stuff that goes on in a Thai ring is suspect to say the least. That ranges from disgusting mismatches to really terrible officiating. We're lucky that we don't tend to see too many mismatches with bad officiating but in the recent Asian Boxing Federation Welterweight title fight between Chalermpol Singwancha, the defending champion, and Didi Panzer, a win-less Super Featherweight from Indonesia, saw a mismatch with some very questionable officiating. The heavy handed Chalermpol looked in charge from the off but whilst he was taking it easy there was no real issue with the referee who viewed from a distance as the Thai fighter just went through the motions. As the Thai began to put his foot on the gas however the referee never seemed to notice that the Indonesian was beginning to take a shellacking. Instead of saving the smaller, weaker and damaged Indonesian he allowed the beating to continue, and continue, and continue...and continue. It seemed both men looked at the referee to ask for the bout to be stopped though the bout some how until Panzer was left flat on his back in the corner. We're sorry to criticise referees but this ref did an awful, awful job and we're just glad to see Panzer get to his feet and look fine at the end of the bout. Shameful refereeing.
