This past weekend may not have been the most memorable, barring the sensational bout between Katsunari Takayama and Francisco Rodriguez Jr, but it did feature a very impressive performance by Russian Middleweight hopeful Arif Magomedov, for us the second most promising Middleweight prospect on the planet. Magomedov was fighting against Britain's Patrick Mendy and did an absolute number on Mendy who did well to see out the 12 round bout. Magomedov showed off solid boxing fundamentals, hurtful power with both hands, a fun to watch and aggressive style and most importantly an ability to go 12 rounds. For a 22 year old prospect with just 12 bouts this was a great performance and it really should put the Middleweight division on alert that there is a very good fighter coming through the ranks. Whilst we think Japan's Ryota Murata is closer to a world title it's to deny that Magomedov will also be a future world champion.
