April 27th 2009-Munsan Primary School Paju City, South Korea Hayato Kimura (13-0, 8) vs Seung Suk Chae (14-1, 5) In April 2009 Korean based Japanese fighter Hayato Kimura [木村 隼人所属], the then Korean Super Flyweight champion, took on Seung Suk Chae in a bout for Kimura's title. April 27th 2009-Munsan Primary School Paju City, South Korea Jae Hwan Kim (11-6-1, 6) vs Sun Haeng Lee (8-4-1, 4) In 2009 Korean fight fans saw Jae Hwan Kim and Sun Haeng Lee face off with the winner to become the mandatory challenger for the Korean Lightweight title. April 17th 2009-I Park Mall Seoul, South Korea Ji Hoon Kim (16-5, 13) vs Hyung Joo Yum (2-1) Few Korean fighters in recent years managed to capture the attention of the US market like Ji Hoon Kim [김지훈]. Here we get to see Kim facing off against Hyun Joo Yum in the last 8 of a Korean national tournament. April 17th 2009-I Park Mall, Seoul, South Korea Dong Hyuk Kim (1-0, 1) Vs Han Kook Park (5-1-1, 1) In April 2009 Korean fans got their second chance to see future OPBF champion Dong Hyuk Kim [김동혁], as he took on the more experienced Han Kook Park in a 4 round from the I Park Mall. March 30th 2009-Pocheon City, South Korea Hee Jae Cho (13-2, 8) vs Kazuyoshi Kumano (22-6, 5) In 2009 promising Korean Hee Jae Cho [조희재] took on Japan's Kazuyoshi Kumano in what, effectively, an OPBF title eliminator, with the winner later getting a shot at Kengo Nagashima the following June. Interestingly those who may recognise Kumanao's name may well recall that he was actually the man who defeated a then debuting Keita Obara in 2010! March 30th 2009-Pocheon City, South Korea Pil Seung Oh (6-5, 5) vs Byung Hoon Kim (8-3, 4) In July 2008 Korean fighter Pil Seung Oh claimed a national title, stopping Yong Woo Kim. In his first defense he took on Byung Hoon Kim, and would later fight for the OPBF title and face Carlos Linares, the brother of Jorge Linares. Hee we see his defense against Byung Hoon Kim from early in 2009. March 30th 2009-Pocheon City, South Korea Taek Min Kim (8-2, 5) vs Tae Suk Kim (5-1, 1) In December 2008 the exciting Taek Min Kim claimed the Korean Super Featherweight title. In his first defense of that title he battled Tae Suk Kim. February 28th 2009-Palpal Gymnasium, Seoul, South Korea Seung Suk Chae (13-1, 5) vs Yuichiro Komuro (7-16-1) In 2009 Korean fighter Seung Suk Chae battled Japanese visitor Yuichiro Komuro as the local fighter began to work towards earning an OPBF title fight. |
